I'm so sick of web browsing being crippled by slow ad loading servers that I decided to do something about it. A simple installation of Firefox's Adblock Plus plugin is the easiest and most effective thing I've done to kill the ad lag. http://www.stopbadware.org/ has a pretty large database you can search to find sites that use spyware/adware.
